2023 FIFA Women's World Cup: Everything you need to know

With 32 teams in its ninth edition and more than 500,000 tickets already sold, 

Only 12 teams competed in the inaugural Women's World Cup in 1991. 

It was increased to 16 in 1999, and to 24 in 2015. 

For the first time ever, there will be 32 teams. 

Taking place from Thursday, July 20, through Sunday, August 20, 

There will now be 64 games and two extra groups due to the increase to 32 teams.

The knockout stage will only be accessible to the top two.
